TO OFFER WOMEN’S HEALTH SEMINAR

“Especially
For Women” will be the theme for an upcoming women’s
health seminar in Franklin.
UPMC Northwest,
Venango-Forest Cancer Coalition, and Adagio Health have organized
the free event, which is set Wednesday, Oct. 25, at The Franklin
Club. Doors will open at 4 pm and the program will get under way
at 5:45 pm. A buffet dinner is included.
A grant from the Pittsburgh affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation will fund the program, which will focus on a variety
of women’s health concerns.
The event will
include blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, stroke and osteoporosis
screenings, exhibits by local health care organizations, and a door
prize drawing. For the glucose and cholesterol screenings, a three-hour
fast is required.
Speakers will
be hematologist/oncologist Howard Kirtland, MD, pathologist Zofia
Tynski, MD, obstetrician/gynecologist Michael Fetterolf, MD, and
radiologist Janet Zehner, MD, all of the UPMC Northwest medical
staff. They will address several topics including breast cancer,
computer-assisted diagnosis (CAD) for breast cancer, human papilloma
virus (HPV) and cervical cancer, and bone density and osteoporosis.
Representatives
of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will provide information
on financial assistance for mammograms.

is required. Registrations are limited and are being
