INPATIENT CARE SPECIALIST JOINS UPMC NORTHWEST STAFF

Hospitalist Kathleen Filiaggi, MD, has joined the UPMC Northwest medical staff and is practicing full-time with John Graham, MD, medical director of UPMC Northwest’s hospitalist program.

Dr. Filiaggi holds bachelor’s degrees in chemical engineering and biology from the University of Pittsburgh and a degree in medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. The Pittsburgh native completed a residency program at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and has since practiced briefly as a hospitalist (inpatient care specialist) at Lewistown Hospital in southcentral Pennsylvania and as an internist with Sewickley Primary Care in suburban Pittsburgh.
Dr. Filiaggi is board-certified in internal medicine.

UPMC Northwest’s hospitalist program is intended to enhance inpatient care while allowing the hospital’s six participating internists and family practitioners to focus more on the outpatients they see in their office practices. The hospitalists provide care for the participating doctors’ inpatients throughout their hospitalization; when patients’ hospital stay ends, their primary care physician resumes providing care for them.
