SUGAR CREEK STATION SCHEDULES SENIOR HEALTH FAIR

UPMC Northwest’s Sugar Creek Station skilled nursing center will host a senior health fair on Thursday, Oct. 12. The event is set from 10 am to 3 pm in the multi-purpose room at the Sugar Creek facility.

A variety of free screenings including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, stroke, osteoporosis, glaucoma, vision and hearing will be offered. A 14-hour fast is required for blood tests.

VNA will offer flu shots during the health fair. Individuals who have Medicare Part B coverage may present their card for payment. For seniors who do not have this coverage, there will be a $20 charge for flu shots.

Computerized body composition tests will be given, and refreshments, door prizes and exhibits by local health care organizations will be included.

The fair also will feature an 11 am presentation on planning for long-term care. The presentation will be given by elder law attorney Kemp Scales.
