UPMC NORTHWEST TO OFFER FREE STROKE SCREENINGS

June 6, 2006 — UPMC Northwest will offer a free stroke screening program next week in Clarion.

Screenings will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, June 16, at Clarion Family Practice-UPMC, 342 S. Fifth Ave.

Screenings will include stroke information, stroke risk assessment, and recommendations for modifying risk factors. Blood tests including total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and calculated LDL also will be offered. A 14-hour fast is required for blood tests.

Advance registration is not required. All screenings will be on a walk-in basis.
