UPMC Northwest Names Nursing Unit Director March 27, 2006 -- UPMC Northwest has named Cheryl Siverling, RNC, as unit director of the Family Birthing Center. The appointment was announced by Rhonda Steigerwald, RNC, assistant vice president of nursing.
Mrs. Siverling has been a UPMC Northwest staff nurse for 29 years in the birthing center and briefly worked part-time as Ambulatory Surgery staff nurse. She holds an associate degree in nursing from Clarion University and is certified in inpatient obstetrics nursing. “Cheri has a wealth of experience in her field of practice and has participated in many departmental initiatives and projects. Her initiative and positive attitude will be instrumental as our obstetrics services continue to grow,” Mrs. Steigerwald says. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of keeping OB headed in the same positive direction that Sharon Shattenberg (our previous unit director) did,” Mrs. Siverling says.
