UPMC NORTHWEST, VNA, SUGAR CREEK STATION SET PROGRAMS

March 13, 2006 — UPMC Northwest, Sugar Creek Station and the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County will offer the following community education programs and support groups. Unless otherwise noted, programs are free.

Heart and Lung Club – 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, Seneca Place, Route 257, Seneca. Interventional cardiologist Nattapong Sricharoen, MD, of the UPMC Northwest medical staff will present a program on cardiac catheterization. Information/registration: call UPMC Northwest, 814-676-7159.

Diabetes Management – 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, April 4, 6, 11 and 13, Courtyard Conference Room, Ground Floor, UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Medical insurance may cover the registration fee. Information/registration: call UPMC Northwest, 814-676-7992.

Freedom from Smoking – UPMC Northwest will offer the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” program beginning in April at Seneca Place, Route 257, Seneca. The free program is funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Venango County Substance Abuse Program.

“Freedom from Smoking” classes are set at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4 and 18. An additional class will be held Saturday, April 22; the time of this session will be announced.

Nicotine replacement products may be available at no charge if you are uninsured or underinsured (if your insurance does not cover nicotine replacement products.
