HOSPITAL STAFF MEMBER EARNS ANOTHER CHAIRMANSHIP

March 6, 2006 — Ophthalmic photographer Sandy Anderson, CRA, of UPMC Northwest has been named to another chairmanship with the Ophthalmic Photographers Society.

Ms. Anderson served the past year as vice chair of the OPS Board of Certification and now also is chair of the board’s Certification Section. In her new role, Ms. Anderson is responsible for arranging certification exam sites, administering the exam, and otherwise managing the certification program.

She also is involved in maintaining the certification program’s accreditation through the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA). As part of this role, she attended the NOCA annual meeting in Long Beach, Calif.

Ms. Anderson’s leadership responsibilities during 2006 will include attending the OPS Board of Certification’s midyear meeting – where she will administer the organization’s first international certification exam – and the International Consortium of Ophthalmic Photographers. Both meetings will be in May in San Francisco.

Her plans also include computerizing the certification process so candidates can complete everything from application to testing online.

Ms. Anderson has been a UPMC Northwest staff member for 27 years and a certified retinal angiographer (CRA) for 18 years.
