UPMC NORTHWEST SCHEDULES CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASSES
Feb.
14, 2006 UPMC Northwest has scheduled the
following childbirth education classes during March.
All classes are held in the conference rooms near the
lobby on the first floor of the new hospital in Seneca.
A small fee is charged for most classes. Families must register in advance for
classes by calling The Family Birthing Center at UPMC Northwest, 814-676-7770.
Prepared Childbirth – 6:30 to 9 p.m. for four straight Wednesdays beginning
March 1, or four consecutive Thursdays starting March 2. Expectant mothers should
attend this class during about the seventh month of pregnancy. Fathers or other
support persons must attend all sessions with the mother.
I'm Expecting Too – 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4. This program, recommended
during the expectant mother’s eighth or ninth month of pregnancy, is to
help children ages 3 to 10 prepare for the birth of a baby brother or sister.
Infant Care – 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 6. The hospital recommends that
expectant parents attend this class immediately before or after completing Prepared
Childbirth class.
Beginning Breast Feeding – 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 7. The expectant mother
is encouraged to attend during about the seventh month of pregnancy.
Prepared Childbirth Refresher – 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 24. This class
is for parents who have received prepared childbirth instruction for a previous
birth.
