UPMC NORTHWEST TO SELL FORMER
FRANKLIN HOSPITAL BUILDING

May 13, 2005 — UPMC Northwest has approved the sale of the former hospital building in Franklin to Professional Development Associates, Inc. of Erie.

The sale includes only the main hospital building, and does not include the West Unit building located at One Dale Avenue, or the Franklin Physician’s Building (attached to the hospital building).

The transaction will proceed to closing after a 150-day period when the buyer will complete due diligence on the property, including title examination, survey of the property and environmental and other inspections.

“This transaction is extremely positive for all involved, especially Sugarcreek Borough and Venango County,” says Neil Todhunter, UPMC Northwest president. “The economic development implications are encouraging, and UPMC Northwest is pleased to play a part in that.”

According to PDA representatives, the property will be developed for mixed use to include possible residential housing.

A local economic agency has been extensively marketing all former hospital properties, and along with UPMC is continuing efforts to market UPMC’s remaining buildings in Oil City.
