UPMC NORTHWEST NAMES CHAPLAIN
March 19,
2005 Jayne French is the new chaplain at UPMC Northwest.
Mrs. French
was a staff member for 13 years in the office of neurologist James
McLaughlin, MD, and currently is being licensed for ministry within
the Church of God.
The Franklin
resident will serve approximately 25 hours a week at the hospital
and provide on-call services.
“I recognize
many faces at the hospital and I look forward to learning everyone’s
names and getting to know them,” Mrs. French says. “My
hope is that I will be a source of comfort and support for staff
and patients alike.”
Mrs. French
succeeds Rev. Dan Murray, who left the hospital in mid-January to
begin a new ministry assignment in the Harrisburg area.
Between Rev.
Murray’s departure and the appointment of Mrs. French, three
other area pastors – Rev. Dave Hart of Seneca Evangelical
Congregational Church, Rev. Bob Graham of Center and Nicklin United
Methodist Churches in the Franklin area, and Rev. Sean Rowe of St.
John Episcopal Church in Franklin – provided chaplain services
on an interim basis.
Following the
addition of Mrs. French to the UPMC Northwest staff, Rev. Jeff Noble
of St. Stephen Church in Oil City also remains available for patients
and employees who need the services of a Catholic priest.
