UPMC NORTHWEST NAMES NURSING DIRECTORS
March 11,
2005 UPMC Northwest has named Beth Gaw, RN, as director
of emergency services and Sharon Shattenberg, RN, as director of
the Family Birthing Center.
Ms. Gaw has been a UPMC
Northwest staff member for more than 24 years including the past
16 years in the Emergency Department, where she was a clinical supervisor
for nine years. Before practicing emergency nursing, she was a staff
nurse in the medical/surgical, critical care and quality improvement
departments.
She holds an associate
degree in nursing from Clarion University and a bachelor’s
degree in nursing from Slippery Rock University.
“Beth’s years
of emergency services experience and her current leadership role
have prepared her well for this new position,” said Rhonda
Steigerwald, RNC, the hospital’s assistance vice president
of nursing. “We are excited to have Beth in this role.”
Ms. Shattenberg has come
to UPMC Northwest from Brookville Hospital, where she was an obstetrics
nurse for more than 10 years including seven years as assistant
nurse manager and one and a half years as nurse manager.
She has a nursing diploma
from Jameson Hospital School of Nursing in New Castle and is pursuing
a degree in nursing.
Ms. Shattenberg “is
dedicated to leading the unit and her staff to an even higher level
of care and safety, focused on the needs of patients and families,”
said Linda Dudjak, RN, PhD, regional vice president of patient care
services.
