HOSPITAL
MOVES OIL CITY
OUTPATIENT PHYSICAL THERAPY UNIT
June 18,
2004 UPMC Northwest has moved one of its outpatient physical
therapy facilities from the Oil City YMCA to the hospital’s
Oil City campus.
The hospital
could not continue to adequately staff rehab services at multiple
sites – two in Oil City and two in Franklin – so it
brought together its Oil City-based services at the Oil City campus,
according to Karen DeWoody, RN, vice president of skilled and rehabilitation
services. All of the Oil City-based services were at the Oil City
campus until UPMC Northwest opened the Oil City YMCA outpatient
physical therapy center two years ago.
Following the
relocation, UPMC Northwest is providing both inpatient and outpatient
physical, occupational, and speech therapy services at its Oil City
campus.
The changes
in Oil City do not affect services at the hospital’s Franklin
campus or at the Outpatient Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine
Center near the Franklin campus. UPMC Northwest will continue to
provide physical, occupational, and speech therapy services at its
Franklin sites the same as it has been, Ms. DeWoody says.
