UPMC NORTHWEST CANCER SPECIALIST TO DISCUSS MYELOMA


“New Directions in Myeloma Therapy: An Overview for Patients and Caregivers” will be the theme for a cancer education program Tuesday, Oct. 16, at UPMC Northwest.

Board-certified hematologist/oncologist and UPMC Northwest staff physician Nicholas Cook, MD, will be the speaker for the free program, which will get under way with dinner at 5:45 pm in Conference Rooms A and B at the hospital. Dr. Cook will speak beginning at 6:30 pm.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, UPMC Cancer Center at UPMC Northwest, Celgene and Millennium are sponsoring the program, which will include an overview of myeloma, information about current and emerging drug therapies, managing the disease and the side effects of treatment, transplant options, and coping with a diagnosis of myeloma.
