SUGAR CREEK STATION SCHEDULES SENIOR HEALTH FAIR UPMC Northwest’s Sugar Creek Station skilled nursing center will host a senior health fair on Thursday, Sept. 20. The event is set from 10 am to 3 pm in the multi-purpose room at the Sugar Creek facility. A variety of free screenings including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, stroke, osteoporosis, glaucoma, vision and hearing will be offered. A 14-hour fast is required for blood tests. VNA will offer flu shots during the health fair. Individuals who have Medicare Part B coverage may present their card for payment. For seniors who do not have this coverage, there will be a $20 charge for flu shots. Computerized body composition tests will be given, and refreshments, door prizes and exhibits by local health care organizations will be included. The fair also will feature a 1 pm presentation entitled “Feeding the Mind” that will focus on ways to maintain a healthy, active mind through nutrition and exercise.
