HOSPITAL, AUXILIARY PRESENT TEEN VOLUNTEER SCHOLARSHIPS

UPMC Northwest and UPMC Northwest Auxiliary have awarded this year’s Teen Volunteer Scholarships to Cynthia-Sue Curran, a 2007 graduate of Christian Life Academy, and Elizabeth Serbati, a member of the Oil City High School class of 2007. Both scholarship recipients will major in nursing, Cynthia at Clarion University and Elizabeth at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Each will receive $500.

The hospital and auxiliary established the scholarship in 2002 to recognize local high school graduates who have been active volunteers at UPMC Northwest and to encourage young people to join the hospital’s teen volunteer corps. Selection of the honorees is based on performance as a volunteer, participation in other activities, references, and academic performance.

Cynthia-Sue logged more than 105 hours of volunteer service at the UPMC Northwest Coffee Bar, while Elizabeth had 115 hours of service with several departments, most recently the Information Desk.
