HOSPITAL LISTS MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT,
STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS
February 9, 2009 — UPMC Northwest has announced a management appointment and several staff members’ achievements.
Lori McCracken brings 21 years of experience to her new job as UPMC Northwest’s Information Services manager. Mrs. McCracken came here from UPMC Horizon, which has hospitals in Greenville and Farrell in Mercer County, where she was responsible for supervising all aspects of telecommunications. Earlier she held various posts in UPMC Horizon’s Information Services department.
Diabetes educator Deb Dowling, RN, CDE, has earned certification as a diabetes educator from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators. She also is a certified insulin pump educator.
Ginger Simons, RN, NHA, director of nursing in UPMC Northwest’s Transitional Care Unit, has successfully completed a state licensing exam and now is a licensed nursing home administrator (NHA).
Karen Latshaw, RN, is UPMC Northwest’s new infection control specialist. She was named to the post following the retirement of Sue Carr, RN, who completed 32 years of service with UPMC Northwest.
Mary Alicia White, RN, and Judy Sandok, RN, of UPMC Northwest’s Emergency Department, Sheryl Neely, RN, of Clarion Family Practice-UPMC, and UPMC Northwest volunteer Linda Rapp have become child passenger safety
technicians. They completed the National Child Passenger Safety Program that was
sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics Traffic Injury Prevention Project and SAFE Kids of Venango County. The program equips technicians to select appropriate child passenger safety seats, install seats in many types of vehicles, conduct safety checks on child restraints, and perform other functions to advance child passenger safety.
