BEHAVIORAL
HEALTH SEMINARS SET SEPT. 13 AT UPMC NORTHWEST
“Grief
in the Workplace” and “Crisis Management for Support
Staff” will be the topics for two Western Psychiatric and
Clinic (WPIC) seminars that will be offered Thursday, Sept. 13,
at UPMC Northwest. The grief seminar is set from 9 a.m. to noon
and the crisis management program will be from 1 to 4 p.m., both
at Seneca Place, 3163 State Route 257, Seneca.
Grief in the
Workplace – Instruction will focus on stages of grieving,
how people grieve, complicated and normal grief, and how to assist
grieving coworkers. The program is for clinical and research professionals,
students, and members of the community. The instructor will be WPIC
psychologist Lillian Meyers, PhD, FT.
Crisis Management
for Support Staff – This program for professionals who may
be involved in confrontational situations will address understanding
violent behavior, working with potentially violent persons, personal
safety, and crisis prevention and management. Instructors will be
WPIC crisis management program coordinator David Julian, MEd, and
crisis specialist Michael Boland, MSEd.
Continuing education
credits are available for the seminars, which cost $40 each. Individuals
