HOSPITAL AUXILIARY AWARDS HEALTH CAREERS SCHOLARSHIPS

UPMC Northwest Auxiliary has awarded scholarships to three area students who will pursue careers in health care. Recipients of the 2007 UPMC Northwest Auxiliary Health Careers Scholarships are:

Erika Gould, a 2007 graduate of Redbank Valley High School (New Bethlehem, Clarion County), who will attend Clarion University and plans to become a pharmacist. Erika is the daughter of Marty and Judy Gould of New Bethlehem.
Ryan Heasley, a member of the Oil City High School class of 2007, who will major in health sciences at Penn State Behrend in Erie. Ryan is the son of John and Lisa Heasley of Oil City.
Joseph Sporer, a 2007 graduate of Venango Catholic High School, who will attend St. Vincent College in Latrobe in pursuit of a career in pharmacy. Joseph is the son of Joseph and Andree Sporer of Franklin.

Each student will receive $1,000 from the auxiliary, which provides the scholarships with funds it receives from the Maude Gnade Trust. Mrs. Gnade was a wealthy Oil City resident whose trust will provide funds to the auxiliary, UPMC Northwest, and several other organizations for as long as they exist.
