PULMONOLOGIST/INTENSIVIST JOINS UPMC NORTHWEST STAFF
June 20,
2007 A specialist in pulmonary and critical care (intensive care) medicine is the newest member of the UPMC Northwest medical staff.
Amgad Abdu, MD, is assuming the practice of Teresa Bisnett, MD, who is leaving the area to resume her career as a U.S. Air Force physician.
Dr. Abdu has come here from New York City, where he recently completed three years of fellowship study and practice in pulmonary/critical care medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center/Montefiore Medical Center and Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx. Earlier he completed a three-year internship and residency in internal medicine at New York University Medical Center in Manhattan.
Dr. Abdu holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from Brooklyn College/State University of New York (SUNY) and a degree in medicine from the SUNY College of Medicine in Brooklyn.
The Franklin resident is focusing his practice here on treating acute and chronic lung disease and managing patients who require intensive care. He has special interests in smoking cessation and treating asthma.
Dr. Abdu is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary medicine, and is eligible for board certification in critical care medicine. Board certification is indicative of advanced credentials in a physician’s specialty.
Dr. Abdu will begin seeing patients Monday, July 2, in his office at 3140 State
Route 257, Seneca. His office telephone number is 814-678-6408.
