UPMC NORTHWEST, SUGAR CREEK STATION,
VNA SET PROGRAMS

June 18, 2007 —UPMC Northwest, Sugar Creek Station and the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County will offer the following community education programs and support groups during July. Unless otherwise noted, programs are free.

Diabetes Management – 9 am or 6 pm Tuesday and Thursday, July 10, 12, 17 and 19, Courtyard Conference Room, Ground Floor, UPMC Northwest, Seneca. Medical insurance may cover the registration fee. Information/registration: call the Diabetes Care Center at UPMC Northwest, 814-676-7992.

Bereavement Support Group – 7 pm Thursday, July 12, First Presbyterian
Church, 1250 Elk St., Franklin. Information/registration: call VNA, 814-678-1111.

Freedom from Smoking – UPMC Northwest will offer the American Lung Association’s “Freedom from Smoking” program from 9:30 to 11:30 am Monday, July 16, 23, 30, August 6, 13, and 20, at Seneca Place, Route 257, Seneca. An additional class will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 am Wednesday, August 1.

The free program is funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Venango County Substance Abuse Program.

Nicotine replacement products may be available at no charge if you are uninsured or underinsured (if your insurance does not cover nicotine replacement products) and you are a Venango County resident. Individuals can sign up or learn more by calling the UPMC Northwest Community Relations office at 814-677-1463.

Lupus Support Group – 1 pm Tuesday, July 17, Seneca Place, Route

Safe Sitter – 8 am to 4 pm Thursday and Friday, July 19 and 20, Seneca Place, Route 257, Seneca. This program is for girls and boys ages 11 to 13 without babysitting experience. Registration fee: $25. Information/registration: call UPMC Northwest, 814-677-1462 or 814-677-1463.
