LONG-TIME FRANKLIN PHYSICIAN JOINING ANOTHER PRACTICE
Blood draw site at Franklin Medical Group also will move to Pennwood Center

2007 A long-time Franklin physician soon will join another practice in the community, and the blood draw site that was located at his office will move as well.
Effective Monday, July 2, board certified internist David McCandless, MD, FACP, will practice with board certified family practitioner Peter Bendt, MD, and board certified internist Vijayaprabha Ramanujam, MD, at Franklin Community Medicine-UPMC on the second floor of the Pennwood Center, 464 Allegheny Blvd., Route 8 North, Franklin.
Certified registered nurse practitioner Elaine Resler, CRNP, and several other employees of Dr. McCandless’s current practice, Franklin Medical Group, also will join the staff of Franklin Community Medicine-UPMC.
Dr. McCandless and Mrs. Resler will see patients at Franklin Medical Group, 1228 Elk St., Franklin, until Friday, June 29.
“Franklin Medical Group no longer will exist, but my staff and I will continue to offer, through Franklin Community Medicine-UPMC, all the same services we traditionally have offered in the past,” Dr. McCandless said.
Dr. McCandless is coming to Franklin Community Medicine – UPMC after practicing 27 years with Franklin Medical Group, the practice that his parents, G.C. McCandless, MD, and Pauline McCandless, MD, and his father’s nephew, W.J. McCandless, MD, started in Franklin in 1942. He also has been a UPMC Northwest staff physician for 27 years.
Mrs. Resler is a registered nurse and certified registered nurse practitioner who has practiced for 10 years with Franklin Medical Group.
Blood draw site also moving to Pennwood Center
As part of bringing Dr. McCandless, Mrs. Resler and their co-workers to Franklin Community Medicine-UPMC, the blood draw site at Franklin Medical Group also will move to the Pennwood Center. Friday, June 22, will be the last day for blood draws at Franklin Medical Group. Effective Monday, June 25, all blood draws in Franklin will be at UPMC Northwest’s ground floor lab at the Pennwood Center, which is open from 7 am to 5 pm weekdays.
In addition to the Pennwood Center lab, UPMC Northwest has several other blood draw sites in the area. Locations and hours of service are as follows:
Oil City – Venango Internal Medicine-UPMC, 1 Memorial Drive, 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Seneca – UPMC Northwest, 100 Fairfield Drive, 7 am to 7:30 pm Monday through Friday, and 7:30 am to noon Saturday; Seneca Commons, Route 257, 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday; and Andres-Bush Internal Medicine, Route 257, 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
Clarion – Clarion Family Practice-UPMC, 342 S. Fifth Ave., 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.
No appointments for blood draws are necessary except at Venango Internal Medicine – UPMC, where appointments are preferred during the morning hours.
