INTERNIST IS NEWEST MEMBER OF UPMC NORTHWEST STAFF
May 23, 2007 — Board certified internist Roulay Thammavong, MD, is the newest member of the UPMC Northwest medical staff. Dr. Thammavong will practice beginning June 1 with internists Stuart Shapiro, MD, and Allison Dilks, MD, at Venango Internal Medicine-UPMC. Dr. Thammavong is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned a degree in biology, and he has a degree in medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in the Caribbean island of Dominica. The Baltimore, MD, native completed an internship and medical residency at Wilson Memorial Regional Hospital in Binghamton, NY, and has practiced the past two years with Arnot Health in Elmira, NY. Dr. Thammavong’s wife, Erica Thammavong, MD, is a family practitioner, and she will begin practicing with Venango Internal Medicine-UPMC later this year. Other doctors set to join the UPMC Northwest staff in 2007 are pulmonologist Amgad Abdu, MD; colon/rectal surgeon David Ferraro, MD; anesthesiologist Darren Loughran, DO; and family practitioners Rick Krueger, MD, and Veronica Santee, MD.
