SIX DOCTORS JOIN UPMC NORTHWEST MEDICAL STAFF
Feb. 28,
2007 Six doctors joined the UPMC Northwest medical staff in 2006 and early 2007, and the hospital is continuing to recruit physicians in several specialties.
The newest members of the hospital medical staff are:
James Klena, MD – Dr. Klena is a thoracic/vascular surgeon and is a partner in the Heart, Lung & Esophageal Surgery Institute of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is board certified in both general and thoracic surgery.
Scott Piranian, MD – Dr. Piranian is a board certified family practitioner who practices with Stephen Cenedella, MD. Before joining the UPMC Northwest staff, Dr. Piranian practiced family medicine for 19 years in Allegheny and Butler counties.
Kathleen Filiaggi, MD – Dr. Filiaggi is a hospitalist (inpatient care specialist) who practices with John Graham, MD, medical director of UPMC Northwest’s hospitalist program, and hospitalist Steven Ferguson, MD. She is board certified in internal medicine.
Steven Ferguson, MD – Dr. Ferguson is a hospitalist (inpatient care specialist) who practices with Dr. Graham and Dr. Filiaggi. The board certified internist previously was a staff physician for 14 years at UPMC Horizon in Greenville.
Ronald McFadden, MD – Dr. McFadden is a psychiatrist who is practicing at Behavioral Health of UPMC Northwest. He is board certified in both internal medicine and psychiatry, and has a special interest in psychosomatic medicine. Dr. McFadden has practiced psychiatry the past six years with several area health care organizations.
Perry Younger, MD – Dr. Younger is a board certified ophthalmologist, and is an associate of Gordon Wuebbolt, MD, at Community Eye Care Specialists in Seneca.
UPMC Northwest hopes to add several more doctors to its medical staff in 2007. Physician recruitment is proceeding in several specialties including cardiology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general surgery, hospital inpatient medicine, internal medicine, medical oncology, neurology, neurosurgery, obstetrics/gyne-cology, oral surgery, orthopedics, pulmonology, and urology.
